We like shopping locally, and we love buying local produce unfortunately local producers are largely overlooked by many.
So a simple brunch plate such as in the picture…. Whats in it?
The bubble and squeak patty is made from carrot, swede and potatoes from a farm in the next village. They have a little stall and an honesty box.
The egg is from two streets away!
The bacon is from our local grazier and butcher, his home produced bacon.
The mushrooms from another local farm shop.
It was cooked on an induction hob, our energy supplier sources 100% renewable energy…..
Other than growing the food ourselves, I dont think we could get a lower carbon footprint/foodmile count if we tried…
And thats what living gentler is all about. There are thousands of unsung small local producers across the UK, we would suggest supporting them at every opportunity.
